A message from our Chief Executive: 2026 Interim Results
This morning, we announced our 2026 interim results, reporting total sales up 7.2% to £1.1 billion and like-for-like sales up 2.1% as we continued to deliver strong cost control and outperform the market.
Throughout the period, we continued to broaden and innovate our menu in line with consumer food trends, introducing new products that combine quality ingredients and fresh flavours across our core categories, such as the Chicken Roll, enhanced salad options and Iced Matcha Lattes.
We opened 34 net new shops in the first half, resulting in 2,773 shops trading as at 27 June 2026. We also began trialling the ‘Greggs Express’, a self-service coffee and food offer and opened our first international travel hub shop in Tenerife South Airport.
We expect around 100-110 net openings this year and we see a clear opportunity for at least 3,500 UK shops over the longer term as our new National Distribution Centres in Derby and Kettering increase our logistics capacity.
The strength of our brand and value leadership continues to ensure Greggs is a “go to” destination for food to go and the Board’s expectations for the full year outcome are unchanged.
“Greggs continued to outperform the market and has delivered an improved sales performance and strong cost control through the first half of 2026, resulting in profitable growth. We remain focused on opening shops in more catchments and introducing convenient ways for customers to pick up Greggs favourites, while broadening and innovating our menu in line with changing tastes and trends. We are making great progress in building the supply chain infrastructure that will support the significant growth opportunities that lie ahead. The Board’s expectations for the full-year outcome are unchanged.”
