Greggs and Children’s Cancer North celebrate 40 year fundraising partnership
Greggs has a long-standing partnership with independent charity Children’s Cancer North and, this year, we celebrate 40-years of collaboration. In that time, the partnership has helped raise millions of pounds for individuals and families affected by childhood cancer.
The Children’s Cancer Run, which has grown to become one of the UK’s biggest single charity fun runs, attracting more than 10,000 runners and spectators, takes place on Sunday 14th May at Newcastle Racecourse.
Greggs has supported the run from the very first event in the early 1980s right through to the present day, helping to raise over £8m to fund revolutionary research, provide support for children and families affected by childhood cancer, and raise awareness of the disease, which is the number one cause of non-accidental death in young children in the UK.
As well as funding the delivery of the event, in the weeks leading up to the Children’s Cancer Run, Greggs also raise money for Children’s Cancer North through shop collection buckets in the North East and Cumbria, and we encourage our customers to take part.
Greggs Chief Executive, Roisin Currie, plans to participate in the run with 40 colleagues to commemorate the special 40th anniversary.
Entry for the 40th Children’s Cancer Run at Newcastle Racecourse on Sunday 14th May is open now at www.childrenscancerrun.co.uk.
