Greggs on track to meet 2025 ESG targets
At Greggs, we are committed to playing our part in making the world a better place. We don’t underestimate the impact we have – on our colleagues, the communities we serve and suppliers we work with.
To consolidate our ambitions and goals to make a positive impact, we developed The Greggs Pledge in 2021, which set out ten commitments dedicated to doing good. These pledges are focused on three key areas where we can make the most difference: building stronger, healthier communities, making the planet safer, and being a better business.
Two years on, and almost halfway towards the end target of 2025, we are proud to have made significant progress against each of our commitments.
Some key milestones from last year include:
Reaching 789 Greggs Foundation Breakfast Clubs, feeding over 49,000 children every school day
Reducing manufacturing food waste by 10% (as a % of sales) and increasing food redistribution of unsold food by a further 10%
Opening Greggs 30th Outlet shop
Setting near-term science-based emissions reduction targets which have been approved and published by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and align to the goals of the Paris Agreement - to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels
Opening our first Eco-Shop and introducing the sustainability initiatives from the Eco-Shop into more than 250 existing shops
Making 32% of our range ‘Healthier Choice’ products
Achieving the National Equality Standard
