The Greggs Foundation partners with Rethink Food
Here at Greggs, we think everyone deserves access to tasty and healthy food
That’s why The Greggs Foundation are working hard to tackle food insecurity through an important new partnership with Rethink Food.
Using the foundation’s existing network of Greggs Breakfast Club schools, the pairing with the food education charity will teach children of the importance of food security by shaping the way children view food, health and sustainability.
One in four households with children in the UK have experienced food insecurity in the past month. This equates to around 4 million children overall.
Because these struggles are more likely in households with children, The Greggs Foundation - our grant-making charity - has been ramping up efforts to ensure children are fully equipped with the knowledge they need to live a food secure life.
We’ll work towards revolutionising food education, taking a proactive approach in educating school children on the importance of making sustainable and healthy choices.
Together, we will be delivering a new education programme called ‘Agents of Change’, a year long course specially tailored for Year 2 and Year 3 pupils.
We are confident Agents of Change will contribute to a new cycle of learning in the communities we support and look forward to supporting the Rethink Food team in delivering this creative and imaginative food education programme.Tracy Lynch, Greggs Foundation Manager
The programme has been designed to help children learn about making sustainable nutrition choices, the importance of physical activity and healthy diets in a fun and engaging way.
Available free of charge to all 770 Greggs Breakfast Club schools, the programme has the potential to reach up to 50,000 children and play an integral role in building stronger, healthier communities, support pupils and continue to grow the highly successful Greggs Breakfast Clubs programme.
